The shop-primed surface must be clean, free from dust, grease, oils and other substances, which may impair adhesion. The whole shop primed surface must be primed with Marlon Marine Primer F and after the drying of the primer, Marlon Marine Repair 1800 FC may be applied. Marlon Marine Repair 1800 FC cannot be applied directly on zinc-rich shop primed surface, aluminum or galvanized steel. In such cases, please contact Marlon Marine.
Marlon Marine Repair 1800 FC is mixed with cold fresh water to produce a workable screed mortar (amount of water, please see product specification). The water is poured into a bucket or container, and then the Marlon Marine Repair 1800 FC is added while stirring vigorously with a suitable mixing tool. The mixing time is 3-5 minutes, until the mixture is homogeneous and without lumps, and a workable paste-like consistency. Marine Repair 1800 FC is now ready for use and must be applied within 15 minutes.
The ready-mixed filler is applied to the surface with a suitable tool, e.g. a smooth steel trowel. Marlon Marine Repair 1800 FC can be applied in one work step in up to 50 mm (2.0 in) layer thickness. For layer thicknesses above 15 mm (0.59 in) up to 20 % oven-dried quartz sand 0.4-0.8 mm can be added. The processing time is approx. 15 minutes at 20 °C. Marlon Marine 1800 Repair FC is walkable after 1 hour and ready for covering after 2 hours. Lower temperatures extend and higher temperatures shorten the processing time.
The tool must be cleaned immediately after use with water, once cured the material can only be removed mechanically.
