Product description

Sound System, Marlon Marine VE 1600 - Steel is a sound-damping visco-elastic system to be built up with a constrained layer of steel tiles. This system gives an excellent noise and vibration damping of noise sources such as propellers, propellers, pumps, generators, etc. with a very high loss factor over a wide temperature and frequency range. Marlon Marine VE 1600 meets all requirements according to IMO FTP Code 2010 part 5.

Product advantages
  • Excellent adhesion to pre-treated steel-, aluminum and galvanized decks
  • Without mechanical fastening of steel tiles for vertical installation
  • Easy to apply
Surface preparation

The surface must be clean, free from dust, grease, oils and other substances, which may impair the adhesion. For the application on aluminum or decks coated with a zinc rich shop primer, wash primer or another suitable tie coat is required before applying Marlon Marine VE 1600 visco-elastic.

Application

One set of Marlon Marine VE 1600 component A (base material) is mixed together with Marlon Marine VE 1600 component B (hardener) for approx. 2-3 minutes by using an electrical mixer, ensures that the components are mixed completely.

Pour the mixed Marlon Marine VE 1600 visco- elastic product onto the surface by using a notched trowel 2-4 mm (0.08-1.6 in) to get a finish layer thickness of 1-2 mm (0.04- 0.8 in) depending on requirement. Immediately after applying the Marlon Marine VE 1600 visco-elastic, the steel tiles must be applied in the wet Marlon Marine VE 1600 visco-elastic. The mixed Marlon Marine VE 1600 product must be applied within approx. 15 min. at 20°C/68°F (80 % RH).

Important

It is important that one bucket of base material and one can of hardener is mixed directly together.
