Sound and vibration-damping system for deck and bulkhead
Marine VE 1400 - Concrete
Product description
Marlon Marine VE 1400 - Concrete, is a sound-damping visco-elastic system to be build up with a constrained layer of e.g. Marlon Marine 1600 SL. Together with our visco-elastic Marlon Marine VE 1400, this system gives an excellent noise and vibration damping of noise sources such as propellers, propellers, pumps, generators, etc. with a very high loss factor over a wide temperature and frequency. Marlon Marine - concrete system meets all requirements according to IMO FTP Code 2010 part 5.
- Excellent adhesion to pre-treated steel-, aluminum and galvanized decks
- Open for foot traffic after 8-10 hours (20°C/68°F)
- Easy to apply
- Levelling of the deck
The surface must be clean, free from dust, grease, oils and other substances, which may impair the adhesion. For the application on aluminum or decks coated with a zinc rich shop primer, wash primer or another suitable tie coat is required before applying Marlon Marine VE 1400 visco-elastic.
One set of Marlon Marine VE 1400 component A (base material) is mixed together with Marlon Marine VE 1400 component B (hardener) for approx. 2-3 minutes by using an electrical mixer, ensure that the components are mixed completely. Pour the mixed Marlon Marine VE 1400 visco-elastic product onto the surface by using a notched trowel in size of 2-4 mm. (0.08-0.16 in) to get a finish layer thickness of 1-2 mm. (0.04-0.08 in) depending on requirement. Before Marlon Marine VE 1400 is completely dry (then surface is still sticky) a thin layer of coarse sand must be strewed on top of the Marlon Marine VE 1400, like sand paper, to provide a good adhesion between the visco-elastic layer of Marlon Marine VE 1400 and e.g. Marlon Marine 1600 SL as constrained layer. The mixed Marlon Marine VE 1400 product must be applied within approx. 15 min. at 20°C/68°F (80 % RH).
Do not use the product below 5°C/41°F
It is important that one bucket of base material and one can of hardener is mixed directly together.
